Barbecued Zombie Skins by Health-Bent

As with any health-conscious parent, I’m always looking for alternatives to candy on Halloween. I’ve often times resorted to buying the candy my kids collect from them, but at the end of the day, this can turn out quite expensive as my kids know how to negotiate the price in their favor. I also don’t have the heart to tell them they can’t go trick or treating as I think that would just be down right cruel. So what is a parent to do? I really like this idea from Brandon and Megan of Health-Bent for Barbecued Zombie Skins (aka Kale Chips). It probably wouldn’t work with the older kids, but I know the younger ones would probably go for this as a trade pretty quickly — I guess it depends on how you present the story :)

I’m not sure you could convince any child (or most adults) that barbecue kale chips are better than Halloween candy, but calling them Zombie Skin sure can’t hurt the cause. I initially tried using seaweed paper, but that didn’t taste too hot. This title sure is gonna sound weird once it’s past Halloween. I guess I could also call it Barbecued Dinosaur Skin — The O.G. paleo snack.
