For those of you who know me, you know that I’m always going on and on about a primal/paleo diet and lifestyle, it’s something that just makes sense to me. For me, learning about the gluten-free diet was a perfect segue into a grain-free diet and the whole primal/paleo lifestyle. While I’m not a grunting crossfitter :), I do like to stay active and I do to try to avoid any sedentary activity (within reason). Again, I’m going with what works and this has been what works for me.
As many of you have experienced with getting treatment for celiac disease — getting a doctor to take you seriously when it comes to how diet relates to your health can be seemingly impossible — the same holds true for those following a primal/paleo diet. The medical establishment as it stands has some fairly scary ideas about health and well-being. Whether it’s about cholesterol, fat, or even diabetes — drugs are usually the first line of defense and eating the right food is an after thought. This doesn’t resonate with me and I feel there is a need here that’s not currently being met. Don’t get me wrong, drugs have their place and have been an amazing part of how people are treated, but they are overused in people’s daily routine. Real food is the answer to good health. It is the panacea that we are all looking for.
All of this being said, I’ve created the Primal Docs Website in an effort to bring people together with like-minded physicians. We’ve only just begun and we just have a handful of physicians listed so far, so stay tuned for a physician near you. If you know of an MD (anywhere in the world) who you think would be a good fit for the site, please have them get in touch with me.
I’m really excited about this project and I hope it’s something that will help many people easily find a physician that will work with them in their quest for better health through nutrition.

I am strongly supportive of your mission with Primal Docs. I am also passionate about the standard of doctors, and have been frustrated by many who don’t seem to understand the importance of a good diet. The worst part is when a doctor is unhealthy. It doesn’t make any sense to me– I’d like to believe that doctors and surgeons who deal with diabetics and etc… would know better to maintain a healthy lifestyle. How does one conduct a double-bypass surgery AND have high cholesterol issues and etc..? I hope your project succeeds, and prevails!

Hey Chris,
I too have long been very interested in the paleo diet and the medical implications of it for those of us that are gluten free. I see the gluten free revolution as a stark reminder about how far removed we have become not just from the way we relate to the foods we eat, but from our very bodies. As Hippocrates said, “Let food by thy medicine.” Bravo on your creation of PirmalDocs! Please let me know if I can help in any way.

Oh yeah, I thought you’d find this article interesting from last October.
